Ok, while its not my first politic post ever, I believe its my first on on this blog. I hate politics with a passion, a deep passion, but because the way America is today, I have decided to get involved this year. Now, obviously my opinion and every other 17 or younger person in this worlds opinion in politics doesn't matter, cause apparently we are nothing to the government, and have no voice...even though the constitution says we do (on a side note, I honestly thing the constitution is more and more becoming just a piece of old paper....cause it seems nothing about the original writing of it is in effect). Anyways. For the past 219 years, the United States has been ran by a president. Basically, some guy who thinks he can do this country best. 43 people have been in the white house attempting to do this country good, and look where we are today. Heading back to the great depression all over again. People are becoming unemployed, business are closing, the housing market is turning to heck, and gas prices are reaching all time highs. Want to know why. because for the past 219 years, some 43 old guys thought they could make this country be the best. But, all they have accomplished is making us the most dependent country on other countries to provide us with what we need to live. Most the guns that our own military uses are made in a different country. All of our gas comes from other countries. Tell me if this makes sense, we hate iran supposedly, we hate Iraq, but we pay them to give us gas. Where does the common logic in this begin? My point I am trying to make is, we do not need another old guy going into office. The old generation has had the chance, and apparently failed. I am sick of suffering for all of the adult leaders mistakes. Even though right now I am all for Obama, I don't care who makes it into office, they better get it right this time. There is absolutely no room to be messing up this time around. The next president needs to fix this war issue, fix this stupid gas problem, stop sending jobs to 3 world countries that I have never even heard of until now, and for the love of god, please do something for the teens. Have you noticed presidents never say anything about doing anything for kids. All they say every election time is they are gonna fix the school system (which never happens because as soon as they touch something, they mess it up, plus, what are you gonna do, put 10 more computers in the school and add a new gym, who cares? what good does that do me? I want a teacher who cares, and actually can do their job). The presidents never make promises for kids because who cares about us? We don't get to vote, we get no say in our president, even when we are MAJORLY effected by it as much as an adult is. Have you noticed that a teenager who knows more about computers cant get a job, but a adult who knows how to peck, and doesn't know what Microsoft office is can. Heck, the new generation knows more about the new technology then most the people who designed it. Who do you think comes up with all these hacks? Pshhh, not some 50 year old dude, a kid who cant get a job and gets ticked at the company that wouldn't hire him. Adults are always saying treasure being a kid, cause being an adult is no fun. Your right, I enjoy sitting at home not being able to do anything with out an adults permission, or being against the law because of my age. I enjoy not being able to do anything with out having to tell someone I am doing it, I enjoy having to go to school all the time and listen to a teacher complain about her weekend instead of teaching me something. I enjoy going to classes that have no relevancy to my career and future what so ever. You think I care about the other 42 presidents of America that messed up as badly as the one we have now? Heck no. I don't care that if I travel up 2,000 miles in the air, I will die....I don't even who what I would be doing that high up, I hate heights, and I don't plan on working for NASA. I don't care that if I mix these two elements, I create a nuclear bomb. Isn't that stuff you DON'T want people to know? Math, important, English, important, Spanish, completely unimportant unless you plan on moving to Mexico or Spain. In regards to the Spanish people in the USA, that is all fair and cool. You deserve to be here, but learn our language. USA adopted the english language, and that is that. If your gonna live here, learn it. I don't plan on spending 1 hour in a class room learning spanish for 3 years. Not my idea of a good education. I need to be learning how to edit a video, or create HTML. Not about some people who decided to move to the USA and not learn our language (please note I am not saying I hate spanish people or their language, I have many spanish friends, I just don't feel its fair to HAVE to learn their language when I live in the USA where the language is English) Now that I have gone off topic, let me jump back on and close this up. The next president needs to think about all ages. Not just the people who can vote. If thats all the candidate is worried about, I say the don't deserve office. In case no one noticed, a 15 year old is an American citizen to, a 1 year old is an American citizen to, and our voices should be just as loud as everyone elses.
P.S. I realize I will probably get a lot kind words from the people that read this, but so you know in advance, say what you want, I am sticking with what I think. Even when I become 40 years old, I will always support in the youth of America getting a say in what goes on. We are humans, we are citizens, and we have just as much of a right as a 18 year old. Also, in case you haven't noticed, I am a real stick it to the man kind of guy. I don't like the higher authorities because they seem to do a terrible job at their jobs. So, to those of you who "can" vote, please make the right decision this year. I am sick of paying for your mistakes.

Hi Simon.
Very interesting read. I can see you are quite passionate on this issue.
I definitely agree with your proposal that politicians should say and do more for those of your generation.
Often what we see in the media today towards teenagers is nothing but negativity. One scare after the next. Unfortunately it seems that many politicians are riding this wave as well attack young teens for their lifestyles (video games, internet, what have you) rather than putting into place programs intended to promote learning and personal development.
The children of our country are the infrastructure of the future. If we do not train and prepare them properly who will maintain things such as technology and science.
Unfortunately, the likely reason that politicians don't focus on you and your age group is that you are not able to vote.
To most politicians, getting elected or reelected is the most important issue.
I am not sure what the ultimate solution is, but all I can say is that the youth CAN have a positive effect if enough people rally together and convince the adults to focus on positive issues concerning them.
When I was your age, I too thought about things deeply a lot as well.
Writing, be it just on the internet, is a great place to start to express the frustration you feel inside.
I look forward to future articles in the future, keep me posted ;)
wow
I feel your frustration, but unfortunately you are off base on just about all of it. Study the seperation of powers, study the constitution because it alone is what gives you the right to post what you just did. Most places in the world you would be in prison or worse right now. Study Marx and capitolism, then study what they look like when put into practise. And word to the wise, you are given a right to vote for representation in this government, not a constitutional right to vote for the president.
You mentioned "fix this war" as the first thing the next president needs to do. I agree. I've even written a book called (surprise) Fix This War!, and it's freely available at:
http://fixthiswar.ning.com
You can read it, download it, translate it, copy it. You don't need to pay anything for it, and you don't need to join the Fix This War! community -- but you can.
I hope you'll add your voice to this community, and I hope you'll tell your friends about it, too. Fix This War! is about leading our "leaders", because they've given us terrible choices.
Thanks for the comments guys. I love this blog because when I cant sleep at night I can let out my anger on here lol. While I must say my head wasn't completely clear while I was writing this, I still got my true point across that I wanted to. Even though it was in a harsher way then intended :). Thanks Jon for your support. You have always been a strong fighter, and it doesn't surprise me that you also felt the way I did as a teen. Bryan, I guess I trashed the constitution more then I should have, because the 1st amendment is still mostly stable. but look how much today's government has twisted and turned the words of the constitution, and basically made it nothing to its old true meaning. But I don't completely disagree with you.
Wow...you should feel better. First I'll say this...and believe me I know your response already...I do not vote...go ahead and say it...ok....forefathers died for my right not to vote just as much as they did for your right to vote. Yes, I can complain becasue I understand that change does not come from what laws are passed or who governs us. Consider that.
